What We Are Certified For
Last updated: August 2026
Protective riding gear is sold on the strength of its certification, so we set out here exactly which certificates we hold and which we do not. Where we cannot support a claim with a document, we do not make the claim.
What we have
- EN 1621-1 — Level 2 limb protectors. The shoulder and elbow inserts supplied with our hoodies are certified to EN 1621-1 at Level 2, the higher of the two impact levels in that standard.
- EN 1621-2 — Level 2 back protector. The back insert is certified to EN 1621-2 at Level 2.
- Aramid material certification. We hold material certification for the aramid (Kevlar®) fibre used in the reinforced panels of the garment.
What we do not have
- The complete garment is not certified to EN 17092. EN 17092 is the garment-level standard for motorcycle protective clothing (classes AAA, AA, A, B and C). GhostShell hoodies have not been tested or certified to it, and we do not hold a Declaration of Conformity for the garment under that standard.
- No abrasion class. Because we hold no EN 17092 certification, we do not state an abrasion class for our garments, and we do not publish abrasion performance figures.
- Garment-level testing is under consideration. We are evaluating testing the complete garment. Until that is done and certified, we say so openly rather than imply otherwise.
What this means in practice
The certified protection you are buying is the armour: CE Level 2 inserts at the shoulders, elbows and back, certified under EN 1621. The garment around them is aramid-reinforced streetwear construction, not a certified protective garment. If you require a garment certified to EN 17092, our current products are not that garment.
Requesting documentation
We will send copies of the certificates we hold on request. Email info@ghostshell.shop and state which documents you need.
Please note: some material test reports in our supply chain were issued in the name of other customers of the mill. We do not present those as GhostShell certificates, and we will not supply them as such.
Need the documents?
Email us and we will send the certificates we hold.
